Macy and Tri-21

In 2017, our lives were blessed with our second child, Macy Joy, who was diagnosed at birth with Down Syndrome. We were not prepared for this diagnosis in any way and did not know who to turn to for more information. Before we left the hospital with her, a gift basket was delivered to us from Upside Downs. The basket contained resources for Down Syndrome, information on local services, and gifts for our new bundle of joy. Through this amazing organization, we were able to connect with other parents in our area who had the same questions and concerns that we had about this new diagnosis.

As a family, we have attended several events and conferences geared toward educating families about Down Syndrome. We knew that we had to get involved. We WANTED to get involved to help Macy Joy and other children with Down Syndrome! We want the world to know that there is nothing DOWN about Down Syndrome and share the message that individuals with Down Syndrome are more like us than they are different. Their abilities are the same as ours and they deserve our patience and to be included.

Determined to make a difference and support the Down Syndrome community, we decided to start TRI-21 Roofing and Construction to help achieve that goal. The name “Tri-21” comes from the medical diagnosis we received for Macy, Trisomy 21, more commonly known as Down Syndrome.

Trisomy 21 is a genetic condition caused by an extra chromosome. Most babies inherit 23 chromosomes  from each parent, for a total of 46 chromosomes.  However, babies with Down Syndrome end up with  three chromosomes at position 21.

Two of Macy’s biggest supporters are her big sister, Jolie Grace, and her little brother, Robbie. We are so thankful for our three blessings!

When you choose TRI-21, you not only choose an honest, reliable roofing and construction company, you are also helping us to fulfill our mission of bringing awareness about Down Syndrome and aiding in the effort to secure amazing, inclusive opportunities for children and adults with special needs. A portion of all proceeds from TRI-21 Roofing and Construction will be donated to DSAGBR and other organizations that support the special needs community, such as The Arc of Baton Rouge.
